The New York Classic Piano Competition is one of the six contests being organised as part of the preselection process for the 2028 Classic Piano International Competition.
Taking place from the 1st to the 4th of June 2027, this will be the second stop in the series, with contestants going head-to-head in front of a handpicked 7-person jury board gathered together from all around the world for this occasion.
Pianists will be competing over two rounds, challenging each other for a €35,000 prize fund, as well as the chance to win entry to the invite-only Classic Piano competition, which will be held in Barcelona, from the 9th to the 20th of September 2028, with all expenses paid. Hosted at the Palau de la Música Catalana, this Grand Finale will feature €320,000 worth of monetary prizes, as well as various other awards and opportunities for all finalists there.
* Compositions performed in the 1st Round cannot be played in the 2nd Round.
* All pieces except for A. Shor – Piano Sonata, must be performed from memory.
* Programmes cannot be changed after the closing date of applications.
* Сandidates must have turned 15 prior
to the first day of their chosen preliminary competition in 2027,
and must be no older than 30 on the first day
of the Grand Finale in Barcelona.
